Where It All Began
Jesse, my husband, had animal science class at Texas State University with Jordan Beeman, President of Heartbrand Beef. He had given a presentation about Akaushi Cattle, and from there the seed was planted. In 2014 we started to work with Heartbrand Beef to increase the genetics of our herd and bred our Brangus cows to Akaushi. At this point we sold our steers back to Heartbrand for 20% above market value. In 2019 we fed one out for our family. Fast Forward to the 2020 Beef Shortage We had been given the carcass grading reports from each of our steers that were sold back to Heartbrand and processed; they were grading prime. Family and friends started coming to us asking if they could buy beef directly from our farm so that they know where their beef comes from. The Journey Continues We had the reports that proved it was quality beef. Our farm had the resource with Jesse's Agricultural background and degree in Agriculture. We are extremely fortunate that my husbands passion is Agriculture. He brings a lot of knowledge to the table and we are extremely thankful for what he contributes to our program. We attend the ranch raised beef conference and beef cattle short course at Texas A&M to keep up with the newest technology and methods used in our industry. We deliver our beef directly to our clients and get to shake their hand and meet each person that buys our beef. Our goal was to take care of our family and friends and that's exactly what we've done. Thank you for choosing us to supply your family with a freezer full of quality farm raised beef. |
Our Family Legacy.
9H Ranch History: Introducing you to the original 9H Ranch crew. Today the original homestead built in the late 1892 still sits on our farm as a reminder of where everything started. The old house, garage, chicken barn, outhouse, truck, tractor and hay rake. These aren't just yard ornaments, they were the tools that once worked our farms land. This was my Great Grandparents house. The house where my grandfather Bobby Parr was born and raised. He was raised on the family farm, just as my kids are.
Herbert Parr is on the far right in the picture below. We found his original cattle brand that should have been thrown out because it was welded on the rod as 9H instead of HP for Herbert Parr. When the farm was divided many years later one took the HP brand and the other took the 9H brand. I love the uniqueness of our brand. It tells a story!! |
